Otmo

For Education

Initially developed with secondary school dance students and teachers in mind, Otmo is a pioneering set of choreographic tools that allow users to playfully explore the fundamentals of movement composition within a 3D digital space.

Otmo offers users the opportunity to create unique choreographic sequences in a virtual scene, exploring spatial and temporal patterning, musical accompaniment and various design aesthetics to compliment and challenge their creative practice.

This “sandbox” tool provides a menu of dance sequences to choose from and allows users to change the position, number and orientation of dancers, experiment with music, set, character style, timing, dynamics and intervals – all through a screen.

Otmo is currently in development, with a public roll-out of the software and a programme of activity around it planned for the early 2024. Following Human Centred Design principles, we are testing successive prototypes with the people for whom the tool is intended to ensure it meets their needs. If you are a dance teacher or student and are interested in being involved in this process, please get in touch.
